Almost every visitor to Mauritius arrives at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport — MRU — in Plaisance, in the south-east of the island. It is a modern, easy airport, and it is our main pickup point. Instead of queuing for a taxi or hunting for a shuttle after a long-haul flight, you meet your car at the airport and drive straight to your hotel, your first beach, or wherever your holiday begins.
Meet-and-greet on arrival
When you land, your car is ready and waiting. We arrange a meet-and-greet handover at the airport so there is no wandering around unfamiliar car parks with your luggage in the heat. You collect the keys, run through the paperwork — which is quick, because there is no deposit to process and no credit-card pre-authorisation — and drive away. For most travellers the whole handover takes only a few minutes, and you start your holiday relaxed rather than frazzled.
Late-night and early-morning flights covered
Many long-haul flights to Mauritius land late in the evening or overnight, and depart very early. This is no problem: we cover late-night and early-morning arrivals and departures as standard, with no awkward-hour surcharge. If your flight is delayed, your pickup simply moves with it — you tell us your flight number when you book, we track the arrival, and the handover is arranged around when you actually land rather than a fixed slot you could miss.
No deposit, no credit card at the airport
The airport desk is exactly where the traditional deposit ritual causes the most stress — travellers arriving tired to discover a large hold on their credit card, or being refused a booked car because their card limit is too low. The M1 and M2 motorways connect the airport to the capital and the north, so even the furthest resorts are comfortably reached in around an hour and a quarter. Having your car from the moment you land means you can drive straight there — or stop for a first swim on the way — without waiting for anything or anyone.
Prefer not to drive on arrival? Hotel delivery
If you would rather not get behind the wheel on a jet-lagged first evening, we also deliver the car to your hotel or villa anywhere on the island, at a time you choose. Take a taxi or transfer to your accommodation, rest, and have the car arrive when you are ready to explore. The same flexibility applies to the return: leave the car at your hotel or bring it back to the airport for your flight, whichever suits your itinerary.

Getting from MRU to your resort
One of the biggest advantages of collecting your car at the airport is that you go straight to your accommodation without a second transfer. The M1 and M2 motorways link MRU to the capital and the north, and clear signage gets you onto them quickly. The nearest resort areas — Mahébourg and Blue Bay — are only ten to fifteen minutes away, so you could be checking in almost before you have adjusted to the time zone. The west coast at Flic en Flac is around 45 minutes, Belle Mare on the east about 50, and the northern hub of Grand Baie roughly an hour and a quarter, all on good roads. Because the car is yours from the moment you land, you can even break the journey for a first swim or a meal rather than watching the scenery slide past a shuttle window.
For first-time visitors, driving straight from the airport also removes the single most stressful part of arriving: negotiating with taxi drivers while jet-lagged and unsure of the fair price. With a confirmed car waiting, the price is already agreed, the route is on your phone, and you are in control of your own arrival from the first minute.
Why book airport pickup in advance
Booking your airport car before you fly is always the smarter move. You lock in the vehicle you actually want — an automatic, a family SUV, a specific size — rather than taking whatever is left at a busy arrivals hall. You fix the price in advance, with no last-minute premium. And because most of our cars come with free cancellation, booking early carries no risk: if your plans change, you simply cancel. Reserving ahead also means the meet-and-greet is arranged around your flight, so someone is expecting you at the exact time you land, even at three in the morning.
Walk-up rental at the airport, by contrast, can mean queues, limited choice, higher prices and — with the traditional chains — the very deposit and credit-card demands that catch travellers out. Booking a no-deposit car in advance sidesteps all of it.
Driving away from the airport: first-timer tips
If you have never driven in Mauritius, the roads around the airport are a gentle place to start. Remember to keep left, take the first few roundabouts slowly, and let the navigation guide you onto the motorway. Give yourself a moment in the car park to get comfortable with a right-hand-drive vehicle before setting off. Traffic near the airport is light compared with the capital, so you have room to settle in. Returning the car for your flight
The return is as easy as the pickup. Bring the car back to the airport in good time for your flight, or, if it suits your itinerary better, leave it at your hotel and travel to the airport separately — the choice is yours. Because Mahébourg and the airport are so close, an early-morning departure is stress-free. We will confirm the exact return arrangements with your booking, and with no deposit to release there is nothing left hanging over you after you fly home.
